Trade for FX35

I love my G, but after seeing the FX35, I am giving some thought to switching. I am going to my dealership this weekend and wanted to hear what some of you think.

I love the smell of a new car. Go for it if you can afford it.

Re: Trade for FX35

I wonder how fast is the FX35? They must be faster than the X5 3.0i. I know that the FX45 does 0-60 in 6.3s to 6.5s.

Re: Trade for FX35

Actually Automobile Magazine just released a new article about the FX45 this month and its a very good review. They are saying 6.3 for the 45, and I work for Infiniti in CNY, and I have to agree. Even the FX35 can do 0-60 in about 7 seconds, so they are both well beating the BMW, Volvo, Lexus, Acura, and Mercedes Crossover S2UV's. The 45 even is beating the Cayanne Series S (Not the Turbo Version though which costs 97,000 which can do 0-60 in under 5 seconds) I must say this is the fastest selling vehicle we have right now, not only cause its new, but its the best (depending on opinion or $$$$$ for the matter). If anyone needs any help in CNY to get into an FX, let me know.

Re: Trade for FX35

Ahhh.. no.

You should be more specific about your comparisons. I'm assuming your FX35 statement was directed at BMW's X5 3.0 (V6 vs. I6), then I agree. Otherwise the FX runs out of steam....

Motor Trend had a time of 6.20s for the X5 4.6is (which granted is considerably more $$$ than FX45), but I woudn't put the FX45 against the 4.6is.

Second, you're comparing apples to oranges here. The Volvo, Acura, and MB offer considerably more space than either the FX or BMW. I believe all of these vehicles are also heavier (being larger) than the FX. The expection is the BMW, which is roughly the same size, but heavier as well. However that discussion can be put aside until the FX goes through some serious crash test by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, and we'll see how it fares against the BMW.

We all know there's plenty more to a vehicle than 0-60 numbers...especially when they're within 0.1s, 0.2s, as tested by automobile magazines... you're putting the FX up against a Prosche Cayanne? ..wow.. nice try.

But at the quarter mile the BMW gets blown away! Infiniti runs the quarter mile at 14.86 s @ 91.71 mph. Try to find a lower time than that for the X5 4.6is!

Re: Trade for FX35

Who drag races in an SUV anyway? Our next SUV needs to have a 3rd row seat and some cargo room, and just be "peppy."

Re: Trade for FX35

I definately agree with you on that one ryken, right now I'm sort of looking at the SUV/minivans simply because I'll also be needing a car with 3 rows of seats. Need at least room for 7 people from time to time. I would really love ot get the FX 35, but that sort of kills it, or any Infiniti vehicles right now.

Re: Trade for FX35

actually some editors from a major car mag took a hummer H2 to run in the bracket races..... actually won a couple of times, I think....

Besides, the emphesis of FX45 and X5 4.6is are both on "sport", not "utility".... so why not have some fun with them??? I bet it'd feel good to burn some "sports" cars when you're in an SUV....

Re: Trade for FX35

Like someone said before if it has wheels and an engine you can compare them. I attended the Cayenne opening here in Edmonton with Gordgee, had the world premiere of the IMAX movie "Speed" or something, hosted by Tim Taylor, and while I was really impressed with the look and performance, not the mention the air suspension, I also would not pay $150,000.00 CAN (fully loaded turbo) for it. Now the FX45 (fully loaded) on the other hand is only $70,000.00 CAN and to me that is very affordable and still considerably less than either the X5 or the mercedes. You make choices depending on what you need and what you want and what you can afford.
