Filling the wheel well with taller tires will make your car ride higher. It's hard to have it both ways. I've got 235/45R18s on my G right now which is the ideal tire size for the car (26.3"), but I've never been a huge fan of the look because the tires look a little tall. This go around, I'm with HTRZ III in the 225/45R18 front and 245/40R18 rear setup which is a little shorter at 25.8-25.9".

OP, if you want these to last for more than about 2 years, you should look at different tires. I know the UTQG rating has a somewhat wide variance, especially between manufacturers, but both these tires are 280, which is not that high if you're expecting more than 20K out of them. For a little more money spent now you can get a very good tire that will last longer and still give you the same performance. BTW, go with the 40 series.

Continental DWS - 540 - $202 (Rack price)
Goodyear Eagle GT - 400 - $205

DWS comes with 12 months road hazard from conti, so if you looking to have road hazard coverage you would not need to pay any extra for it if you got the DWS.

Thanks for the suggestions, but I've never been very impressed with continentals, and several of my friends have had problems with Goodyear, so those two are out.

I don't mind the 280 treadwear. Right now I just really need some tires. Mine are bald. Hopefully next time I'll be able to spend a little more. But good grip and good life are kinda at odds with each other anyway.

Or try to find some tires here or on craigslist. If you need tires asap but aren't 100% decided.

I meant you should be using that site to review the best tire for the $ you want to spend. It's the site I reference in my tire thread on the same subject. Along with the dias, utog and other various factors. Unless you are willing to pay top dollar for the best of the best, you're going to have to compromise somewhere. Being in Florida, you have some advantages.

^Oh yeah. I didn't understand at first.
Yes, I've been doing some reading on tire rack, but I was still undecided... but now, looking at the poll.......... how far does it have to be before it's called a "landslide" ?

Just goto a local performance shop. Not a tire shop. I got my falken 452's for 150 a piece and no shipping charge. Plus i could have got a warranty for 20 dollars more. A local shop isnt there to only make money off the tire so they get better prices then most.
