Agreed. I got my Bridgestone RE760's installed at a local place for about the same money it would have cost me just to buy them and have them shipped. They don't need to make as much money on the tires as an online store does because they get install dollars. Tires are the only thing an online store makes money on. IMO, the only reason to buy online is if you don't have access to the same tires locally. I'm not sure how Discount Tire Direct works on this, but Tire Rack has certified local installers you can ship the tires to, but they're going to charge you $80-$100 extra to install them since they're not making any money on the tire sale.

Figure out what tires you want first, and then look around locally for someone that sells them or can order them. My store didn't have them in stock, but they had them within a few days.

P.S. I'm not bad-mouthing a sponsor (Tire Rack), I'm just stating the facts about my tire buying experience. Currently, it would cost me $717 to get 4 RE760's delivered, plus at least another $100 to get them installed by a Tire Rack "recommended" installer based on the prices on their site. Buying locally, tires + install was about $720.

Discount tire will match any local place. I don't remember how much their mount/bal is though, but I get free bal/rotation for the life of the tires.

I know Blue dream is rolling the Hankook's and really likes them...I am rolling the 245/40/19 Falken 452's and very happy with those. Save the rims and fill the wheel well with the 40's no matter the brand.

1. go with the 40s over the 35s, reasons have already been listed
2. Look into the Michelin Pilot PS2
