how to replace bulb shift indicator
Here's the page from an '05/06 service manual (which you can find here: http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM/G35/Sedan/2005_G35_Sedan/ )
It doesn't show the bulb, just how to get to it.

how to replace bulb shift indicator
Hi..
As for bumping the thread, I allowed it because he asked his question in a new thread and didn't get much response (I had him check the FSM). Sorry you're having an issue JT...I've been on this forum for 6 years and I don't recall anyone having this issue and I haven't had that car in 2 years so I can't even remember exactly what's under that area of the center console. It's easy to take apart, so if I still had the car I'd definitely trace my wire for ya.

Help. This shift indicator bulb in the console has been giving my wife trouble for a while. Smacking the console lightly would bring it back but now it is totally out. I was able to get to it and replace it with a Sylvania type 74 bulb(only brand available locally). Still doesn't work! Read that Sylvania won't work because of the length of the socket portion is too short but it looks to be the same size as the one I removed. What could it be?

It could be a fuse out, you might need to pull the Sylvania bulb and rotate it 180* or you need the Phillips bulb that worked in above posts. Order a couple online if you can't find them locally.
Rotate 180*? Do you mean 90*?

No, pull it out and spin it around halfway then re-install it. LED's can be side specific where the wires seat in the socket and even though your bulb isn't an LED it can't hurt to flip it and see if it works.
Well, turns out the bulb is fine! After trying to flip the new bulb around and still not getting light I put the old bulb back in and wiggled some of the wires around. It went on for a few seconds. I spent another couple of minutes wiggling them again to pinpoint where exactly the loose connection is. Could not get it light up again. Damn. If it's only the socket harness then no problem to fix as long as I can get a new one. If it's somewhere else in the other harnesses down there then I'm out of my league.
Kind of related, my Left Turn signal and my Cruise Control light both are intermittent. Sometimes they work - sometimes the don't. your thoughts??
My light will come on if I gently bump the area with my fist. I think it's either a loose connection in one of the harness clips or a broken wire. I haven't really taken it apart and tried to find exactly what the problem is yet. At least I can get at the area pretty easily. Yours sounds like it's in the dashboard somewhere. Tougher to access I believe.
