Opinions Needed!
Hi, I am new to these forums as I am considering buying my dads 2006 G35x with 56,000 miles. I just have some questions and need some honest opinions to what you think would be best for me. First I like speed. This car is fast I have to admit, I drive it a lot so I know what it's capable of. But how many problems am I going to have buying performance parts for it because it's an X? If so what parts am I going to have problems with? Second of all I am considering an SRT-4. My brother had one and I love them. I'm buying a car for speed mostly but somewhat looks. My brother's SRT ran mid 12's with about 5 grand dropped in it. Will the G35x ever see anything in the 12's? I love the G and if I want it the lease runs up May 5th and I will be buying it and taking over the payments. I love everything about this car but I am afraid with how much money I am going to have to sink into it for performance parts and how many problems with the fitment on them. I don't make much money so the SRT is cheaper which is better but I see so many of them around, and the G is just amazing lol. So if possible any opinions would be great some facts you think I should know would also be great. Also the G has been babied with maintenance and cleanliness so I would keep that in mind. If you would like pictures of the G, I have some. And sorry if this doesn't belong here I just really need some opinions from all you guys on here.

G35 sedan w/ too much money in mods

You are trying to compare apples to oranges. The G is a more refined, semi-luxury car that is fairly quick. Your Dad's car will probably never see 12's unless you invest $10K or more to get it there and I don't see the point of doing that to an X. It wasn't made to be a performance/track monster.
I think in your position (I'm assuming you're 18-20) if you are wanting blazing fast cars look to the WRX STI or similar car. Cheap and easy to mod and you can beat it to death. Get that out of your system for a couple of years then move to a more refined car like the G.
Stay away from the Neon though. The car is poorly built and will most likely end up giving you a ton of problems. Remember, you can make a piece of **** fast, but in the end all you have is a fast piece of ****.

G35 > SRT-4
As far as the X goes specifically, suspension was a pain in the ***, i'm also not sure if there is a good fit for Supercharger / TT if youre looking for speed. Im sure other members will chime in on that.

If you want a nice car, buy the G. If you want a fast car, buy a 98 or newer F-Body (Trans-Am/Camaro SS) or a Mustang Cobra. Don't waste your time with an SRT-4. It will be crazy fast for a little while, and then break, and keep breaking.
LS1s can be fast for 100,000+ mi.
Another option would be to build a Subaru. Older 2.5rs can be had for cheap, and it's not too hard to get an STi engine to build. It really depends on your mechanical skill.
But there is still nothing that will go faster for less $ than an F-Body or Mustang.
