4 cylinder G?

http://www.autoweek.com/article/2010...NEWS/100409845

"Carlos Ghosn, CEO of Renault SA and Nissan Motor Co., said the G will use a Mercedes inline four-cylinder from Daimler to improve fuel economy and cut emissions. He didn’t say when the engine would reach Infiniti production lines or indicate the extent to which it will replace Japanese-made four-cylinder and V6 engines used in the G sedan and coupe. Here’s hoping Infiniti’s own V6 stays in the G--it’s one of the best engines on the market."

Unless Ghosn wants to be shot in the face, he better keep that German crap out of our cars!

That is very disappointing. They should keep the 4cyl engines in Nissan brand cars. Keep the Infiniti brand higher performance. If people can afford an Infiniti, they should be able to afford the little extra for gas. (imo)

It's not so much the cost of gas but federal regulations that require certain levels of efficiency.

A 4 cylinder G offering is only a matter of time, in the Eco-Friendly politically correct world we live in. We can only hope it never catches on. But ultimately it probably will, its basically the V6 Mustang/Camaro logic.
Some people want a car because of its heritage and abilities, and a stripped down 4 cylinder version that has neither heritage nor abilities, but costs far less will always have a place in the market.

I cringe everytime I see a V6 Camaro or Mustang out on the road. There are basically two demographics that drive them...teenage girls and white trash middle-aged men who drive the pi** out of them. Every now and then you'll see a teenage boy driving one who has slapped on some Flowmasters and Cobra/Z28 badges. In my opinion, nothing sounds worse than a V6 with Flowmasters.
