Burnt out HID

So I just took my 05 g35 sedan to the dealership and they told me that my HID light and ballast needs to be replace and it would cost 600ish dollars. Can I do this myself by just buying a HID kit that includes the ballast and replace it myself? I see this post here (https://g35driver.com/forums/body-int...hid-bulbs.html) shows how you can replace the bulb but will you have access to the ballast to replace it to? Any good suggestions on where I can get a good kit?

Thanks.

Have you tried to replace the bulb to see if it works?

Try getting a new pair of bulbs first. They're easy to replace.

Disconnect battery. Just jack it up, remove the wheel, and remove the panel. Replace.

Check out http://www.ddmtuning.com/

If you have a circuit tester check to make sure you are getting power to the ballast first and if you are check the igniter which is the part that attaches to the bulb. If you are then switch bulbs from the other light to make sure its not a bad bulb. No point in buying stuff you dont need. check fuses and what not first

you could try swapping bulbs and see if they problem switches with it...

you can then decide if you need just bulbs or a ballast.

Replacing the bulb will be a cheaper way to go and see if everything is fine.

My ballast just stopped working on the left side. Blows the fuse as soon as the lights are turned on.

FYI the fuse is in the 'intelligent power module' under the windshield behind the battery.
