The exact reason why IMO this would be a DUMB thing to do. You're not the first to mention the performance aspect of it.
Ill stick to things that add performance where it's useful, ~ Low-Mid range. An extra few hp at 5K+ rpm is useless 95% of the time.... Well unless...... .....

after running resonated test pipes mated to a coupe midpipe and muffler delete for 2 days, i couldnt stand the noise so the stock muffler went back on. anyone want to buy my muffler delete?

But with HFC i wouldnt get the rasp u got with test pipes. im also running a sedan mipipe with a bigger resonater so i would get even less rasp.

I dont know how the HFC's will do in terms of rasp but i know that using the stock cats and stock sedan midpipe doesn't create rasp at all

"if you are running a coupe/sedan midpipe, the exhaust is not too loud at all. to be honest i would say it is about as loud as the HKS axleback exhaust. at idle, it is very quiet. regular daily driving barely a hint of drone in the cabin...you wont have any trouble hearing your music at all or carrying on a conversation. i usually come home very late at night and the exhaust is quiet enough that it wont wake the neighbors when i am driving down the block."
I just had mine done, with a Magnaflow race muffler on the mid-pipe in place of the sedan resonator. I was concerned the straight pipe would be too loud, even though several users here claim its "not much louder than stock". So I had them use a small resonator/muffler with a tip pre-installed on it. The size looked perfect and tip looks nice. So a Magna. resonator on the mid-pipe, and another in place of the muffler itself. I'll be damned if I didn't want to blow my brains out for doing this the second I drove off. Drone is UNREAL I cannot hear myself think. Windows rattle, seats rattle and honestly its emabarrassing how obnoxious it is.. Although I will admit the actual sound/tone the car makes is great, but it is stupid loud inside the cabin. I have had V8s running straight pipes, dumped, and it was not as obnoxious as this. So, before I even made it home from the shop, I stopped by another exhaust shop to have them weld back in the stock '05 sedan mid-pipe. This helped quite a bit, but the car is still WAY TOO LOUD.
If someone can think of something I may have done horribly wrong please advise. The tip is a good 2" past the bumper. And for good measure, I have HR-Y Pipe, MD 5/16 & Aramid Gasket, Z-Tube and K&N..
People do not do this mod, if you like the classy understated tone, pitch and volume of these cars. This is way, way over the top.
