What brand of fluids do you use for flush?

For a power steering flush:
What brand of fluid do you use or is best to use? (e.g. Redline)
How much of it do you need? (e.g. 1 quart)

For *MANUAL transmission flush:
What brand of fluid do you use or is best to use?
How much of it do you need?

*For brake fluid flush:
What brand of fluid do you use or is best to use?
How much of it do you need?

Thanks for the help!

@thescreensavers: sorry i forgot to mention it was manual transmission ><
* added this after his post

Power Steering

NISSAN PSF or equivalent
Not sure how many quarts

Many people just suck it out of the reservoir with a syringe, then fill it up, drive around and do that process about 4 times.

Transmission Flush

Nissan Matic S (ATF)
If you are flushing the system according to the service manual you need around 15 quarts. Capacity is 10 7/8 quarts

Also use the search for questions instead of posting them first. If you cant find the answer still then post.

brake fluid... replace this when you get your brakes done. I run any Dot3 or 4 off the shelf. Yea Dot 4 has a higher boiling point but most will not cook their brakes that bad to need it, car comes with Dot3 i think. Dot 3 has a lower boiling point but is less prone to moisture absorbent ( this is what makes fluid go bad and black)

PS fluid i dont care for, i'll replace it when needed. its not very high on the list. My fluid list mainly goes, OIL, trans fluid, diff fluids/ transfer case and then brakes. P/S fluid is below air filter and spark plugs on my list.

Thanks for the info, I did a lot of searches but I couldn't find the amounts of each fluid that people typically used to flush. Thats the main part I need help with.

An easy way to measure is to drain the old fluid into a clear container and mark it with a marker, and replace the same amount. I do that with coolant change, just mark it on a bucket and mix the coolant and distill water in the bucket and pour it back into the system.

I would say maybe 1/4 quart looking at the reservoir. The owners manual doesn't specify quantity. It also recommends Nissan ATF for the PS fluid in Canadian cars.

What's up with that??

Maybe a little more than 1/4 but less than 1/2. I dunno what the entire system holds though.

Excessive maybe, but if it prevents expensive steering repairs in the future...its worth it.

I mean yea, but every oil change? I hear people do it ever 50k or 20k..ect but every 4k :O, but hey its preventative maintenance so do it how you like!

I am at 48k so at 50k I am going to buy some PS fluid soon to change out the reservoir a few times.

Well maybe not every change, but I def don't let more than 1 go by without doing it. I am at 60k. When you think about it, changing only 1/4 of a quart each time means it takes about a year to do a full flush of 1.5 quarts. The way I think of it, as long as I keep fresh fluid mixing in, less to worry about.
