Question in regards to the way a Coupe sounds...

I have an 06 g35 sedan and really like the rasp that the coupes have when they accelerate. I've got the z-tube and changed the filter obviously not expecting it to replicate the sound. Was looking to get a full exhaust but is this the y-pipe thats making the sound? Anyhow appreciate the answer to the newb question.

Coupes have a completely different muffler and tailpipe setup. To sound exactly like the coupe...you need the same exhaust.

And before you ask, a coupe muffler won't fit...without seriously extensive mods like cutting out your spare tire well.

^^ Will help, but it takes more than that - the 06's have a large-ish muffler. Mustang's right about the only way to truly duplicate that sound, but you can coax something equally nice/better, just a little different, out of her with a handful of different setups. Search!

HKS rear section=better sound than z or coupe. The only drawback is some drone.

Opinion alert.

The Coupes sound the best to me as well. Thats the sound I want, a nice stock tone. Not too loud.

Drone sounds good to me... I am willing to Swap my Tanabe Y-pipe back exhaust for a HKS Axleback!

My modded dual borla sounds very much like a coupe but with some drone and louder tone. The X pipe made the sound more exotic/higher pitched along with cutting down the drone the stock Borla emits by about 1/2
