What do you think insurance will do?

My girlfriends sister flew backwards in her Tahoe with a trailer hitch on it. The driver side quart panel is buckled and has to be replaced without a doubt in the trunk its pushed in pretty far too. My G is a 04 with 74k on it. Do you think they will pay to fix it or total loss it? They will be out on thursday to look at it..

They will pay to fix. Looks like it just needs a quarter panel and the trunk needs to be bent back.

I work for a autogroup the guys said plan on having the car out in the shop for 2 1/2 - 3 weeks if they fix it and they cant see what else is bent behind it. Also on a carfax what will it say now? Will it say had frame damage or no. Some people told me it would some said it wouldnt.

They will probably fix it.

On the bright side, now would be a good time to throw a little extra on top of whatever the insurance gives you and upgrade to a Hikkatadori trunk

they will fix it no doubt. it does not look like there is frame damage. I got rear ended last year and my back end looked worse than that with all of the trunk inside pushed up and they fixed it. Id say it will be about $5k. Plan on not having your car for close to a month though

^ damn straight.

OP - i hope you are getting fairly "compensated" by your G/F (or her sister) for the stigma your car will now have as its now been in an accident, as well as the hassle it has caused you.

I am a former insurance adjuster & dad owned body shop, based on the ACV-(Actual cash value) based on your miles/year..it will be repaired. you will need new outer quarter panel for sure, after tear down they may find inner structural damage. These isnt a frame on this car, its a uni-body so you wont have frame damage, but you could have damage on the unibody (inner structure) i cant see behind the bumper or under the trunk, you could need a new rear bumper absorber & rebar depending on the impact force. Also, you may have floor pan damage. hard to tell in pics, but could be easily seen after being torn down. New rear bumper cover, you may need new trunk hinges depending on if they are bent or not. also, the tabs on the tail light mounted in the quarter could be broke if it was hit hard, that would be found after tear down. hope this helps....
