Over rough surfaces on my friend's 05 G there is a strange metal on metal rubbing noise coming from the steering column. I was driving his car today and it was extremely irritating. Its pretty loud and only seems to happen at higher speeds. Does anyone have any idea what that could be?

 

BTW i am friend and this is my car lol. I have no idea what it is. Generally, it happens when im going over a bridge or something and its small vibrations. Its almost like a finger going on a chalk board. Its that kind of annoying and irritating. Not sure what it is. Anyone else have this? It isn't really a rattle.

 

This is the first time I've read about a noise like this. Did you install your DD yourself? Maybe something under the dash related to that?

I really don't have a clue, post up what you found if you ever figure it out.

 

Nope, had a shop install the double din.
