Yeah. It took literally five minutes to do. I had a pump that pumped the fluid out into a water bottle and then topped it off and drove around.

Buy a gear oil hand pump from an auto parts store. They're cheap and you can use them to lube your differential and your tranny (if that sort of thing is your bag baby). I've seen 2 size pump sizes, one the size of a twist off soda top and the other the size of most regular oil bottles. I got the small size so it fits on most gear oil bottles. It is a pita to pump a million times to fill up the diff though. Not horrible, just tiresome. I'll eventually buy an electric pump.

 

so just with a turkey baster, suck it all up and pour new in? u measure amount out by using same glass type? or ?

 

No measuring needed. You just take it out and fill to the Appropriate line on the Reservoir container.

 

what oil to use to avoid any warranty issues?

 

^ warrenty will be fine if you use dexron III compatible fluid as stated in the owners manual.

I used M1 ATF which is dexron III compatible

 

You don't need to be as precise with the fill on the ps fluid...not like the trans,

Just fill it to cold min line, go for a quick drive, pop the hood and add as necessary. The level won't drop because all you are removing is the fluid from the reseviour. The lines and rack are still filled. So just fill it and double check later.


I usually give it some time for the fluid to circulate before doing it again. Takes 5 mins to do

 

I did a full drain/flush on mine and it really isn't difficult. Obviously not as easy as the turkey baster method, but still really easy.

Was your fluid black? Feel any diffrent with fresh fluid?

 

It wasn't as black as yours was, but still pretty dark. Steering wasn't bad before, but feels smoother now. My car has 57K.

 

all you guys posting about this "smoother" feeling i really have to do this because i'm pretty sure its a placebo effect, like a lot of things are not.

I did it on my GF lancer, she didn't comment on it at all. Now she might not be the most sensitive person in the world in terms of driving but the way everyone talks about it, it would make sense she would notice it feel a lot better after 60k.
