Shudder/Hesitation between shifts
06 G35X 5AT
I just got this car about 4k miles ago, it is about to roll into 50k. It has a weird shudder between 1st and 2nd and a lighter one between 2nd and 3rd. It is extremely noticeable when turning a corner taking off from a stop. I see there are some other threads out there at the 40mph mark, but this is a little different because mine doesn't do that, only during shifts. Is this normal, anyone else experienced this?? Thanks guys.

if u are feeling a slight jolt when it is changing gears as u stated then get ur transmission fluid changed out and u may need the rear axle grease job done.
when i drove mine i started to feel a little jolt, it felt like it was a manual kind of thing where i could feel it like clutch in/gear/out and power for that brief moment, took it into the dealer and turned out the be the rear axle know issue, they re-greased it and changed the transmission fluid and all is smooth again

^i have this same issue from shifting down from 5th to 4th. i feel it mostly going uphills and it sonly during downshifts that there is a jolty feel where i can actually feel "or i think" the gears changing. must be the transmission fluid, i forgot to mention this last time i brought it in for service,
they just did a differential fluid change i should bring this up. the thing with my problem its not always, only happens sometimes.

Have you completely ruled out the 1.5k-2k rpm/35-40 mph shudder? I know my 2006 does this, as well as sometimes uphill, sometimes turning a corner without fully stopping, etc.
My dealership, after much firmness and waving the associated TSB in their faces, is finally replacing my transmission valve body. I thought this would be under the 4 yr/60k mile limited, but the master tech told me it fell under the 6 yr/70k drivetrain warranty. Look at infinitihelp.com for a list of other TSB's that may plague your 2006 (compression rods would seem likely, as well as the oil pooling in the sparkplug area).
YMMV, hopefully by replacing the valve body will solve my shuddering once and for all.

the TSB shudder is mostly for uphill if i remember right and its a constant shudder like the car is gonna stall kind of thing until u give it a bit more gas or drop down a gear in manumatic mode, a single small jolt as the gears change from 1-2 and 2-3 is most likely transmission fluid and/or axle re-grease (i had both done at same time so cant be sure which one fixed it lol)

^ Crap, there's more than one cause for all this shakin'? I gotta get the tech to check the transmission fluid/re-grease the axle at the same time.

i will check how much it is to replace my tranny fluid and will reply to this thread accordingly.
