Does clay bar NOT require a drill to do it?

^95% of the time, clay bar is by hand.
Make sure you get the right thing though:

Ohhh really? Dude then I'm going to pick some up tomorrow at Autozone!

I thought clay bars and those clay thingys, you had to do buffer them with those drills

(like in those before and after detailiing pictures those guys got those flood lights+crazy expensive looking drills haha)

What's a good polish mr c drive

definitely pick up a clay bar if youre looking for a slick surface after a nice coat of wax

most polishes will need to be put on by machine. seeing that youre probably new to detailing, you would want to start off with a DA polisher. a good DA polisher is a porter cable 7424xp.

some good companies that carry quality polishes are menzerna, optimum and other boutique companies.

if you have some experience with buffers, i reccommend getting a rotary buffer. It takes about half the time as a DA buffer to correct paint defects, but requires a very delicate touch, as a rotary buffer can burn through paint extremely quick. a good rotary buffer is the makita 9227c, which is what i personally use

heres some pics of a customers car i did this weekend

good luck and happy detailing!

that´s a great job on that red car. Can a DA buffer be found at a local autopart store?

I doubt it -- at least, nothing worth your time/money. Check out www.detailedimage.com. They have a few different buffers to choose from. Plus they have a bunch of great how-to articles.

Only use it twice a year...it should be fine for your paint if you do it right. If you clay it, you should then polish and wax it since you will have removed any wax (and any protection!) your paint may have had.

Read up in the Detailing section, there's TONS of info on products, techniques and equipment.
