Radio/ AC problem

I believe I may have a short in in my dash somewhere, occasionally my radio will shut off then pop back on randomly. Also, sometimes the radio will stay on but all lights on the dash will shut off, and the buttons will not work except from the wheel. When this happens the AC turns its self on and wont shut off. Has anyone heard of this happening before?

G35 sedan w/ too much money in mods
Let me guess, your car is an 03-04? If you read more on this forum you will find this is one of the most talked about issues with those year models. The problem lies with a circuit board in the headunit that controls the radio and AC controls. Your temporary solution which has worked for some is to smack the side of the console where the radio is mounted (not kidding).

Long term solution is to replace the radio, most go with a double din set up. There are a couple of places that will repair your original unit, but the consensus seems to be that it will eventually fail again. Good luck with your quest and check the Audio/Video section to find an endless of possibilities on ideas for replacement.

I have the same problem. So annoying. The aftermarket route is so expensive because of the cost of the mounting kit. Unbelievable.

Cheap double din is the Metra kit (99-7604)
Better solution is the double din parts from the Japanese version of our cars that are made by Nissan. (OEM quality)
For that last option, search JDM DD kit or JDM Double Din, and you should find plenty of information.

That is your problem though, mine does it every once in a while. I just keep hitting it until I finish my double din, in dash computer.

Where did you hit it?
Best place I've found is on the passenger side, on the side of the unit.
Same 'tap' you use to get the v-lock to act right on an old Panasonic TV

If I beat the **** out of my headunit. I get so frustrated with it and the lack of an economical solution. Anyway OP, hit it around where the cubby is above the cigarette lighter on the passenger side. I also noticed that if you open and close the top cubby (where some have the OEM nav) it works if you close it hard.
