the FSM has some deflection test, but i just check by seeing how much i can twist the belt. in full disclosure though, my belt routing is no longer stock. anyway, if the belts squeak on cold start up they aren't tight enough.Originally Posted by WhosRich

remove undertray, break loose bolt on each tensioner pulley, loosen tensioners using socket & extension, swap belts, tighten up tensioners (check belt tightness as you go), tighten up the bolt on each tensioner pulley, reinstall undertray, drive over to your favorite watering hole or strip club

doesn't look bad to me. fwiw, belts aren't that hard to change and you don't need a torque wrench.remove undertray, break loose bolt on each tensioner pulley, loosen tensioners using socket & extension, swap belts, tighten up tensioners (check belt tightness as you go), tighten up the bolt on each tensioner pulley, reinstall undertray, drive over to your favorite watering hole or strip club
Those belts are fine. Cracks running along the length of the belt are what you should worry about, or if there are gaps missing, or cracks like that that run all the way across all the ribs.
My A/C belt broke recently (actually didn't break entirely apart, just one rib came off) so I replaced it, which required taking off both belts.
Wasn't hard at all. I've never done belts on a Nissan, didn't look up a DIY, and it still only took me about an hour, and that was doing an oil change too.

basically when you think you have it tight enough, rev the car to between 3k-4k rpms and see if it squeaks. if not you are good. just recheck it about a week later due to the belt breaking in

So you have sporatic cracks all over? The other belt which the picture didn't come out clearly has small little cracks in a much bigger area but you can't really see it from the picture.Originally Posted by Mustang5L5

So our belts are serpentine or v? I don't know what the difference is. Also, if i am standing in front of the car with hood up. The left belt is = alternator/ps? The right belt is = ac?
So I guess I can wait a bit then. It's not squealing at all yet. Maybe I am just paranoid.
