03 Infiniti G35 sedan overheating?!

I'm hoping someone can help me! Here is the deal, so I have an 03 Infiniti G35 sedan and it had starting heating up because coolant wouldn't stay in the radiator. Id fill it every day and it would be fine. One day it began to overheat even after I put water in it so I changed the radiator and the thermostat. Now the car if fine at idle but once I start driving it heats up to the point of overheating and then it starts to cool down as I slow done. I burped the system several time and I'm just out of ideas. I took it to the dealership and they don't know what's wrong with it. They says its not the fans or the pump or anything. You can smell coolant when the car is on but we can't find a leak. They said the engine is fine... everything seems to be fine but the car keeps heating up while driving and cooling back down to normal while idle. What else could it be? The dealership says some sensor sender unit or something like that might be out and they are going to change it... could that be causing this issue? HELP!!!!

See if your problem is similar

If so you'll be needing to do this:

or buy a new engine and swap it out

I had a similar problem with my 03 sedan.... But I also had a bad fan cluctch as well.....There is an "Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor" under the hood that is for the gauges. I haven't replaced mine yet....but any time I run my AC it sometimes causes the Temp gauge to go up...BUT the car isn't really overheating at all.

WHAT?

There is no such Engine coolant temp sensor "under the hood"

the temp sensor goes connected to the water pipe in the back of passenger side head.

and if your temp sensor is not connected, the temp gauge wouldn't even move. So you have problems.

I maybe wrong about location...but a mechanic told me that it could be that sensor that needs to be replaced. I checked the price at the dealer and it runs about $30. For that amount can't go wrong. Just tryin to help.

Sensor is cheap, but when removed you have to purge air from the system, in other words it's the labor that gets you. But in your case how can you be getting readings if it's not plugged in?

If your temperature is climbing, there is a problem.

Plug in a OBD2 scanner and check the water temps via the ECU.
