Back in December I test drove the G35 Sedan with auto, but I ordered the 6-speed. A decision I have second guessed for four months. Will I picked up my G35 6MT last Friday and drove it all weekend. I’m real glad that I waited. It is definitely worth the wait. The first change I will do is window tinting.

Sounds HOT! I just bought a Black on Willow with the premium package, sport suspension and full aerodynamic body kit just last week and I am loving it already. Cheers to us few Black on Willow owners.

You will love the stick. Forget the vibration on the shifter and enjoy. This is a real driver's car.

I never considered the slushbox, but I'm sure glad they FINALLY brought out the real sport sedan. Mine's also black, and I'm very glad I got the black intereior too. I am surprised at how easily the dark interior shows dirt, but overall the look is great.

Definitely tint the windows. Dealer did mine for "free", but it isn't dark enough. oh well...

I love the feel of this car. Getting on the highway this morning to come to work (still being nice during the break-in period) I shifted into 5th gear and the car lunged forward. What a rush!! The car feels like it is saying, “stop holding me back, let me run”. How many miles did any of you wait before opening her open on the road?

They say 1200 miles before you can really get on it. Change the oil too.

 

I drove fairly hard from the beginning and then really romped on her after about 200 miles. A buddy of mine is a Nissan Technician and has been one for 14 years. He said that the VQ needed to be run fairly hard to let the rings settle and smooth the engine out. He said he has seen a few Altima 3.5SE's and Maxima's come in that were driven by little old ladies that were leaking oil and slightly smoking on startup because the rings never settled right and the car had never been run hard. I ran mine hard from the beginning and it is a champ. My '02 Maxima ran 14.50's BONE STOCK because I broke it in right and took care of it. I was at the drag strip the day I got it with 17 miles on it running 14.50's. That car became a freak, but just because I drove it the way it was supposed to be driven.

What kind of "break-in" did you give it when you say you rode it hard? I'm halfway through my break-in (with the 5 speed Auto) after one week, giving it a good mix of driving around town, freeway commute, and open highway miles - at various speeds. It loves to cruise at 80, but I've had it up to 95 for short periods, and generally held it down between 50 - 75 during my morning commute. Should I give it more extended time at higher speeds?

It will test your patience to break it in, but from what I hear you will be glad you did. Those that broke it in according to factory directions appear to be getting better gas mileage in the long run. I can't say that I stayed under 4 Grand the whole time either, but I did take it easy. Then you can see how nice it is to downshift to 5th gear at 80 and punch it too a 100 to blow some overpriced German sled right off the road....Oh it is so sweet! Give it 2,000 miles before you start playing.

G35/S/MT....this car rocks!
