Purchase decision on 2004 g35 sedan

/facepalm.
X and MT are mutually exclusive.
They're not
Worst case, all 6 leak, and a vendor on here will get you the entire set for under $100.
It wouldn't surprise me if you ended up having one leaking, but it doesn't really cause much of a problem. Mine had a freaking TON in the #6 plug well, but it didn't effect anything.

They don't even believe in their own prices.
If you don't believe it, go find a used G35 with a rocky drivers seat, stuck disc changer and puddle on #6. Negotiate the price without mentioning those problems to knock off the extra "fluff" and then, tell them you want another $3000-3500 off because of the CD player, seat and valve covers... you won't get it.
It's a problem all too common on this forum. People say something is a "$XXXX problem" because that's what the dealer quoted them out of their handy "book of lies"
And what really sucks is people searching the problem thinking about buying get scared off by seemingly expensive repairs when there's usually an alternative that costs a fraction of the price.
Fact is, these cars are not that expensive to maintain and repair. Maybe they used to be, but not anymore. Unless you go to the stealership who charges like the car's new off the lot

I'm sure it was. Dealerships live in a fantasy land that has nothing to do with reality

I do all of my own work. I let the dealership rip me off for lower control arms in August b/c I didn't have time to do it myself. I also did a tranny flush at the dealer. It is absolutely ridiculous what they charge for any job. They wanted $97 to replace the PCV valve, HAHAH! It's like a $20 part, and all you need to do it unclamp a hose and tq down the new piece. How about rear sway bar endlinks for $360 when the parts are only $60? I can go on forever, but I mentioned the dealer prices because how many people are gonna rip off the valve covers? In reality, not too many.
Regardless, no one should be scared away from these cars. They are ever reliable.
