At the shop Need HELP!!!!

Hey guys need help making this decison. My differential started making some crackling noise, (open 3:3) I orginally planned on doing the pumkin swap. Best bet is to do that now, my uncle has a 05 AT coupe that he is scrapping I can get his differentia. I was wondering is his 3:5 FD ratio or 3.3 I ask because when he was driving the car if he did a burnout or pulled off from a stop hard with vdc off both tires would peel so that tells me his has a vlsd. Need to no if he has 3.5 rear gearing?

Does it have to be a 6mt too? Or AT is 3.5FD?

Ok so update!! I put in a 3.54 VLSD pumpkin from a 05 6mt coupe. I love the difference. I just have one question. After putting in the diff the accelleration is 100% better on the butt dyno, my question is it seems to be reving out further than before. Example when driving from 20mph to 60 if i get on it the rpm in D would go to around 5k to 6k now at that same speed when i punch it the rpm will fly to around 6k to almost 7k before changing gears. Is this normal?
