Yeah me too, I was confused if this was tire noise or if it's the wheel bearing. I never did figure it out. I just assumed it was the the tire since the noise was constant, even when making turns from side to side. I've been meaning to check it out one day but never got around in doing it.

Sounded like the rear driver's side was making a lot of noise. I had other people in the car try to figure out where the noise was coming from, but it was tricky to pinpoint. I thought it had to be that side since I replaced the other wheel bearing a year ago. I think the front wheel bearings are around $200 and a little easier to replace on the RWD, it sucks having to take the axle out.

I had a front wheel bearing "hum" during turns when it was shot. The only bearing I have not replaced is the front passenger.

Also, bad bearings can result in wheels falling of the car. They should be replaced immediately. Glad to hear you're safe again.
Grabbing the wheel and moving it around did not work for me. I had to turn the hub without the axle connected to hear the grinding sound during each turn.

O YEA It's dangerous!

I do need a tranny flush and differential fluid changed though.
The cold weather made it hard to diagnose the noise. I had an annoying sound coming from the rear of the car that pulsated at high speeds. I thought it was the rear differential, but took a chance and installed the bearing anyway...found out that was it!

Sounds similar to tire road noise; with the new bearing the inside of my car is VERY quiet. It's nice hearing wind noise and people in the back seat!

RWD - The front wheel bearings are $200 from the dealer, no press needed. I could change two front bearings in about two hours. The rear wheel bearings are about $70 from the dealer, sold separate from the hub, so a press is needed. I was able to find a guy who could press the bearing for $20 a side. Would take about 3 to 4 hours to change both rear bearings.

You will need a slide hammer to take the hub out of the control arm/axle. Don't be afraid to rock that thing. Hahaha

If you google search "G35 hub assembly" and click "shopping" up top, you can find out sources of the bearings/hubs

Timkin is a quality bearing manufacturer and I would not hesitate to use them. They make OE wheel bearings on plenty of cars

I had the same thing done a few months back... I know how it feels when you get it back with the new bearing, feels like a brand new car

I do not think Nissan sells it as one part, I've never seen a single part number for the two pieces.

Doesn't feel like a hooptie anymore! Suspension seems to work better, shifting is not rough, and turns are more accurate. I can actually hear my exhaust now!

I'm convinced now i need to do the fronts. Since it's 8 degrees out..i'll wait til spring. Still i want to get parts ready.

Few questions. WHo makes the OEM Nissan bearing? All i find are Timkin, and OEM nissan. Makes me think Timkin might make the OEM bearings for Nissan. Does anyone have an OEM bearing around? Any manufacturer stamp on it? There is a big price difference, so i don't want to spend $50-80 more for OEM to find it's a Timkin in a Nissan box.

Secondly...bearings are not side specific right? But they are Front and rear specific on an AWD right?

WHat about hubs? Can a front AWD hub work on the rear?

I was thinking of changing all 4 since the bearings are ~$60 each, but my press is 25 miles away at work. So after removing each bearing, id have to drive 50 miles to press in/out the hubs. Was thinking of buying a front hub/bearing assembly, installing that, and then buying just bearings only and pressing the hub out from the first bearing and using it on the other side and then continuing on to the rWould save me time. But if the front hubs can't be used on the rear, then my plan wont work.
