Considering getting the latest nav dvd; however, I'm not impressed with the general functionality of the first release I have.

I'm expecting the latest release to have an overall better layout, including menu design and general map/guide features.

I'm hoping that it's NOT simply the EXACT same thing, just with additional streets that been built over the years.

Any input or screenshots would be greatly appreciated before I drop $150+ on the update.

I think for us 03's, version 6.8 is the highest we can go to.

yeah for the most part its just udated map data and POIs. Menus and map layouts will remain the same. I only updated mine once and the only thing that graphical changed were a few new icons.

 

from your 6.1 disc...

you will get new landmark icons. IE in chicago i got the sears tower, hancock building and other fancy buildings downtown. You will get a ENTER and EXIT icon when on the highway. Small things here and there but nothing mind blowing.

i have the newest at 6.9 but only roads and POI have been updated. I do feel its a complete waste of $100+, i'm glad i got it for cheaper.

 

sorry to thread jack, the newest cd that i can put in a 2005 FX would be 7.0 right? is it the same exact thing but with new streets or is a whole new menu layout and everything?

will tell you what disc version you need.... but AFAIK all infiniti up to 05 is still a 6.x system and 06+ is 7.x

 

you also have the option of buying the navigation brain from an 06 sedan or 06-07 coupe. It will fit where the existing box goes, but I don't think it's plug and play. Might have to do some splicing, but still a worthy mod. I've thought of doing it, but the boxes are tough to come by, as a lot of people want to sell entire nav systems.
