What ECU do I have
I have an 02/02 build date. I think the switch was sometime in late 03. I think most guys with an 02 build date are... screwed.
i Called uprev this morning and they told me they use to not me able to do the old maximas and g35 a yr ago. They told me they even tune 01 maximas all the time they have the capilbilities to do so. Hope eveything works out when i get down there this weekend!
^I just called them and asked if that was the case, and he told me they had looked into doing it, but it just wasn't possible without a huge software projecct that they have no plans to do.
Where are you located? This guy at a shop that is authorized to do uprev tuning in NY told me we tune 00' 01' 02' with no problem he said he has seen a problem with the A/T 03' G35 but that was like a yr ago. Man I hate getting wrong information!! When I go there this weekend i will have all my answers.
Just got off the phone with uprev directly and they said that to his knowlegde the production date was Nov of 2002 for the newer model ecu. Mine is sept of 2002 So im screwed !!
^We're working on that right now.
One thing you'll need is a new gas pedal.
Actually, you only need the sensor at the top, but it's hard to find just the sensor, and the dealer only sells the entire pedal assembly.
Best bet would be a 350Z pedal assembly used. Should bolt right in, has the new sensor, and looks way nicer than the dopy sedan pedal.

^Our cars have an electronic throttle body, so the gas pedal isn't directly linked with a cable like it used to be on older cars.
Instead, there is a sensor on the top of the pedal (Accelerator Pedal Position, or APP, sensor)
On the newer G computers, this is a 5 volt sensor.
On ours, it's 2.5v.
Fortunately though, they plug in the same way, and can be swapped. The problem is Nissan (or most junk yards for that matter) don't sell just the sensor. They sell the entire pedal assembly.
I did find one place you can get the sensor only, but it's $88 before shipping.
For that price, you might as well get a used 350Z pedal assembly because it's a lot nicer than the sedan pedal anyway.
