Sway Bars
Re: Sway Bars
This looks best perfomed on a lift with the bars off to install the bracket.

Re: Sway Bars
No, you wouldn't want to do this with the bar off ... not unless you mark down where you'd like the collar to sit. The collar is in two halves, so getting it on is a breeze. It's actually more of a pain to take the darn under tray off
dholly,
It looks like your bar is not exactly centered from the point. I'd recommend mounting the collars inboard of the brackets rather than out-board ... as the curverature is a bit less there. It will not sit flush against the side of the bushings that's for sure, but it'll still work to prevent lateral sliding of the bar.
I may custom fab a set of collars for the front that works correctly.

Re: Sway Bars
Is it best to set the sway bars to maximum or minimum stiffness for drag racing?

Re: Sway Bars
Sway bars improve the handeling of the car in the twisties.
They make no difference in a straight line.

Underbody rear diffusers, Drilled alum pedals,

Re: Sway Bars
Cato,
I'm sure they would have no effect while cruising, braking, or even while hard braking in a straight line, but I'm sure it would have an effect while hard launching.
With the sways set to hard they will keep the car from twisting. And for what little twisting there may be, the twist rebound torque will be short, strong and have minimal damping from the shocks. Low damping could cause oscillations or shimmying.
With the sways set to soft, the car will twist but the shocks will offer significant damping on large twist rebounds.
The real question is "Which is better for fast launching?" I can imagine pro's and con's of each set up.
1) Set to hard - the car will be very rigid on its roll axis but the rear tires will be subject to higher peak loads and could be more prone to breaking lose during a hard launch.
2) Set to soft - the car will twist a lot on its roll axis, but the peak load as seen by the tires would not be quite as high (assuming the same launch conditions). OTOH all the damping work performed by the shocks is simply wasted energy.

Re: Sway Bars
wait wait wait. my question still stands:
If I plan on running the OEM sways up front and the Hotchkis up front, which setting do i put it on to get the optimum 120 lb/ft? do they have these specs anywhere?
ok update: i found this:
Rear 15/16"(24mm) Hollow (bar weight 5.5lbs)
3 Position Adjustable
Rate Increase over stock
+54%,+92%,+146%
$295
so that means the optimum setting would be either med or stiffest. hmm, i think ill go with medium for now to be safe. =)
but i cant figure out how to use these damn collars. oh well.

Hey guys....
Does the 350evo rear bar work for the sedan?
The pic looks completely different from Stillen etc.
It doesn't have the hump for the exhaust pipe to pass.
Does it go below the exhaust?

Don't worry about it THX. They always change things. So how much did you end up paying for all four? Was it around $35-40? Maybe they dropped the price and only sell them in singles now. I paid around $40 with shipping.
Yes, I paid around 35 bux for them.
Looks like I dropped the ***** here. I went back to check my invoice and indeed it shows 2 of each
Oooopsie!
Because McMaster-Carr was local to me ... I just called a sales person and picked them up w.o. even checking the line items. Looks like they manually bag'd two per bag from which I made a false assumption. Silly!

Yes, the EVO bar will work just fine.

Yes, I have the 350EVO rear sway on my sedan. It does go under the exhaust which confused me for quite a while when I was installing. The 350EVO bar is different than all the other bars as it is symetrical in shape and thus why it has to go under the exhaust. Some people may be worried that it sits too low but I have dropped my car on an '03 350Z suspension and I have not scraped the sway bar at all, even on high speed bumps. Also the 350EVO bars do come with the necessary collars.
