My Poor G Got Hit Yesterday...Update - She's Fixed!!!

I took my kids to the bakery yesterday and parked on the street to pick up some cannolis, and the G got tagged by a Ford Expedition while we were inside. The guy was nice enough to wait, so I called the PD and had them come and file a report. Both doors are trashed, and my door only opens from inside, so I have to reach in from the back door to get the damn car open every time I need to go somewhere. Ah well, at least no one was hurt. I'll see what happens with the insurance co. this week and get her fixed up. I've only had her a month, so I was a 'lil upset yesterday.

that sucks.

you can use the auto window down to get the door opened from the inside instead of reaching in from the back door. until you get it fixed

glad to see everyone was ok. and luckily the guy stayed who hit you and didn't run. while its in the body shop you should look into removing the side molding on the side and have the other side done as well :-) looks really clean without it ..

if you only do one side you can roll like NFSP G35 - Ashley LOL :-P

Man, that's sucks. Looks like 3 or 4 thousand dollars damage. At least you don't have to pay for it. GL

I did think about that, but I haven't tried the windows yet. The rear door dent is pretty deep; I think the window might catch it on the way down. Ah well, I'm already plotting some cosmetic mods since the car will be in the shop for paint. The first G35 I drove had a factory Aero spoiler and I really like that look. I found a guy on CL that has one I might pick up if it's in good shape.

Thanks for the sympathy fellas!

Hey make sure the ins. company goes for door shells and not door skins and repair the shell
less likely to have a problem down the road. Skins suck thats why the germans only sell shells

^+1.
When I had similar damage, I was actually able to find a door shell on eBay cheaper than what the shop was going to pay for one, so they let me provide the door shell, and knocked the price off of the estimate and I got to use the balance to offset some of the extra stuff I had done

definitely do that, see if you can see the ins estimate if you find cheaper parts tell the body shop youll get the parts and see if you can get some mods out of it, like an OEM lip, and maybe some other stuff youve been wanting

I totally agree. I called the guy's insurance company today and filed a claim, since he hadn't notified them yet. Their adjuster is supposed to contact me tomorrow and let me know how they want to proceed. If they give me any grief about my rental coverage or how much they want to spend to fix the car properly, I'll put it through on my own Collision Coverage and let my insurance company duke it out with them afterward.

Awesome idea!!! I'm already thinking since they'll have paint ready to go, I might have to slip an Aero spoiler in the booth to spray as well.

I couldn't believe it either! The last time I even had to file a claim with my insurance company was 10 years ago when my Sebring convertible got totalled. My last daily driver (an '01 Cherokee) went 6 years and 45K miles in my possession with no problems.
