What he recommended is what anyone will tell you to do. If you aren't satisfied with the stock bushings, upgrade to the spl spherical bearings. I replaced my stock bushings with the spl bearings and the noise went away. It's been over 500 miles with them on and no problems whatsoever.

Replacing the whole compression rod is extremely expensive ($300 a piece from the dealer) so if you don't want to buy oem rubber bushings every 2-3 months, upgrade to the spl bearings.

so i know what i was talking about, i drove on a bad BUSHING just like you not a compression rod
I meant compression rod bushing.

The rod itself won't cause any negative effects but both ends of it will. The bushing that is bolted to the body, and the ball joint that bolts to the spindle. There is no replacement for the ball joint so if that goes bad you have to replace the whole rod.

it will do the job but its going to be just like an oem one which can go at any time, thats why were telling you to get the SPL ones which are reinforced and from many G35 drivers have been a better cheaper and sturdier alternative

www.rockauto.com has the Front wheel hub assembly for $112 - Save yourself some money

revised OEM bushings will last well over 2 months. I replaced mine 2.5 years ago and they are just now starting to fail. Also, compression rod bushings do not sound like metal on metal when they go out. They sound like a creaking old bed or door.

metal/metal sounds are normally from the endlinks or the shock mounts. In my experience, I went through both.

My replacement compression rods are starting to fail again. 77k miles....and need a 2nd set already. Might look at aftermarket buchings.

Also, I need two front wheel bearings on my x....for $170 each not including hubs

So there's almost $500 in replacent parts I need this spring, in addition to belts, trans fluid, and other routine maintainence.

There goes my tax money.

Anyone know a cheap source of awd front bearings? $170 is cheapest I can find and that doesn't include hubs
