Bright move. You talked her out of more passenger space, more storage space, better stereo, nicer amenities, generally lower price, and better visibility. Nice "upgrade".

Re: Why so many 2003 G35s for sale?

I was thinking about this today, I would be willing to bet, some buyers bit off more than they could chew buying their G35's, so now they want out of the payment, that wouldn't surprise me as being part of the reason, I don't know, but I do know people do that, and much more often than we know.
Well, I don't know that going from the sedan to the coupe fits the word "upgrade" or not!

Very few people sell their sedans to "upgrade" (sheesh) to a coupe. Sedan owners need/want four doors and room for 5 (in a pinch). Not trying to start a sedan v. coupe flame. That's been done to death. Thay are both fine-looking and excelent-performing automobiles. Does anyone disagree?

@cantdrv,

I have an '03.5 with almost 50K miles on it. This car is still like new. Actually seems faster as it gets older. THe only issue this car has had is the front brakes (pads/rotors) needed replacement at 45K. If you can find a clean, 1 owner sedan (not a lease) with less than 30K on it, it would be a great choice. Hard to find more bang for the buck.

Oh, sorry to see you are going to the coupe. Oh well, if she doesnt need a usable rear seat, almost the same car. Just rides a little rougher. I was on the list to get the first few 6MT coupes way back in Sept. '02, but when they started showing up, I test drove it and was very underwhelmed. Too much was lost, for very little gained. So I bought an AT sedan and have thanked Jesus ever since (no 6MT tranny issues to deal with and loads of space). Just a thought.

"Upgrading to a coupe" were the dealer's words, not mine so please don't flame me. I didn't know that there had been sedan vs coupe threads. I would've been more PC had I known.

Also, as I said in my original post, her first choice was a Lexus IS 300. But, even before that, she wanted the Lexus convertible. I can't recall the model number, but it's a two seater that has much less trunk space because the top folds into the luggage compartment. When she found out how much those cars cost used, she changed her mind. So, her real first choice is a sporty two seater not sedan.

I think you are speaking of the Lexus SC 430. It looks very cool with the top down, not so much with the top up. I think they are about $66,000 tax title and tag. Whole different ballpark moneywise. She will enjoy her coupe and save a lot of money too.

Just curious, what would it be called when I traded my 350z for a sedan?
