Exclamation Recommended Auto Transmission???

I have a twin-turboed 2003 Infinti G35 Sedan with a stock 5 speed auto tranny...I've been having some serious transmission problems lately as the 5th gear is free wheeling...I took my car to get a diagnostic test and they pretty much told me I need to replace/rebuild my transmission ...Right now I am considering doing a racing tranny rebuild which is suppose to cost me somewhere around $3200 for parts and labor...My other option was to purchase another stock tranny from Nissan/Infiniti...Any recommendations???

Just found out the transmission parts for the tranny rebuild are "Transgo" valve body kit and "Precision" converter.

I thought the Transgo only helped speed up shifts when in manual mode? You might wanna look into that before dropping the cash down, to make sure they're not trying to tack on additional cost for stuff you don't need.

I know the stock tranny needs some work if you're going turbo. I would definitely not buy another stock to replace as it will go just like this one. It needs to be rebuilt.

You know what, I actually thought about doing a 6MT swap...but wouldn't the cost of that be over $3500 after parts and a $80/hr labor rate?? I've taken a look at a lot of youtube videos and from what I see rebuilding the auto tranny with the transgo parts has made a HUGE improvement...many of the mods have already been done to 350z's, G35's, and Titan trucks. Goto Youtube and search "G35 transgo" or "350z transgo" and tell me what you think.

On another thread they quoted the parts around $1500-$2000 depending on if and what used parts you get. The $80/hr labor rate is what might get you. There seem to be a few members here that have done it before so it's not impossible.
