Is there a 2005 G35x front brake rotor recall?
Hi -- at the dealer today getting oil change and tire rotation. At checkout, service adviser says, "Of course, there's that recall on your front brake rotors, but we don't have the parts to do it right now. We will get you the next time you're in."
He points to the line on the invoice that says, "G35X FRONT BRAKE ROTORS-PC089."
In addition and apparently separate, they recommend a rear brake job.
I should have asked, but I figured I could come on here, search and find the answer. But was not able to. the PC089 seems to be a computer code the dealership uses to bring up certain lines on the service invoice.
Googled "g35x brake rotor recall" and "brake rotor tsb" with no luck. Thanks in advance for pointing me toward more info if it is already on the site.
Cheers,
Vance

Okay, called back and talked to the service adviser again. He says that the dealer doesn't yet have details, that no bulletin has been issued yet, but that the computer has begun identifying cars that will be affected by a forthcoming recall. He said I should receive something in the mail soon and that the dealer expects to know more within two weeks. Anyone already know more?

Okay, letter from Infiniti came today:
Dear Infiniti G35X owner:
Infiniti is committed to providing the highest levels of product quality and customer satisfaction. One of the many superior features of the award winning G35 is its excellent braking performance. This performance is due in part to advances in materials technology inherent in the brake pads on model year 2005 G35X sedans. However, that superior performance can result in these customers sometimes experiencing greater brake rotor wear than they may have experienced with other vehicles they previously owned or leased.
What Infiniti will do
To ensure the highest levels of customer satisfaction, for a limited time, Infiniti is offering to reimburse owners for out-of-pocket expenses related to brake rotor replacement for 3 years from the original in-service date or 36,000 miles on your odometer, whichever occurred first (the "Program Period.")
This brake rotor reimbursement program covers brake rotor replacement performed when required because of rotor wear during the Program Period.
What You Should Do
If you have previously had your brake rotors replaced during maintenance to your vehicle prior to your receipt of this letter and during the Program Period, you may be eligible for reimbursement of these expenses. A detailed claim form is printed on the back of this letter. If you have questions, please contact Infiniti Consumer Affairs at 1-800-662-6200.
Please note all claims must be submitted by July 31, 2011.

Unsatisfying for me, as I bought the vehicle with almost exactly 36,000 miles on it. All it means to me is that I can expect to spend a lot of money replacing rotors during my ownership of the car. Hope it helps someone else, though.

No, it says within 3 years from the in-service date (when the car was manf) or 36,000 miles; whichever occurred first.
