Will AC work without the radio?

You should rethink the, "send it in for repair..."
It took me five hours to install a new radio. Yesterday!
The cost was under 400.00.
Now I have Hands Free phone, Bluetooth for Slacker and Pandora.
Works with my steering controls and XM.
Here is my write up from another forum:
So I bought a new radio to replace my dieing radio.
I thought it was going to be much more expensive, but radio prices for decent aftermarket units are very reasonable.
I bought the JVC KW-XR810 for 210.00 shipped from Amazon.
I was going to cheap out and get the 610 for 50.00 less but it did not have the features I wanted.
So with the install I needed and new dash mount, XM convertor ( no Cassette deck), Steering wheel convertor and Nissan harness.
This is what it looked like on the table.

Now I have Bluetooth to stream Slacker Radio or Pandora.
Plus hands free calling.
I have a USB port for Ipod or to charge my phone.
I have an Aux port for an MP3 player or if glynn wants to listen to his cassettes.
Steering wheel controls work.
The XM is fed through the radio antenna cable.
This was completed for less than 400.00.
With five hours of labor. Not too bad. Jenn's XC90 was much worse.
I may buy the XM receiver someday.

ps; I don't mean punching it hard. I think it all has to do with where you hit it..

That is what I was thinking... Smack the right side of the console by the lighter outlet.
If that does not work,
Pull the radio, open it up and place three peices of package tape on the bacl of the ribbon cables on the reverse side of the leads.
Insert the ribbon cables back into the their mate and put the radio back together.
The radio should work fine again.

Thanks guys! I honestly appreciate you trying to help and I really don't mean to be rude but... I've had problems with the radio for a few months and I have already smacked the sh*t out of the center console a few times and tried all the advices from this and other boards but none of it helped. Now all I want to do is send the radio to this repair shop that will take the stuck CDs out and repair the problem with radio cutting out and AC controls being stuck on auto. This is a known issue with this year and the consensus is that the best thing is to go aftermarket. But.... all I want to do is sell the car (family expanded; need SUV).
So...will the AC work without the radio being in the car or not?![Smilie](https://g35driver.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Thanks.

As for fixing the rest of the radio... It's not going to get you any more out of the car to fix it, while going aftermarket just might. Bluetooth and iPod compatibility is a good enough selling point.

I can't believe none of you guys answered his simple question ![Icon22](https://g35driver.com/forums/images/smilies/icon22.gif)
The A/C won't really work with the radio uninstalled. The OEM unit is all one circuit board with both radio controls and AC controls on the same board.
The AC will kinda work, but will probably default to 75, which really isn't comfortable.

Thanks!! That's what I was looking for :-)
I live in FL so full blast is pretty much every time I drive :-)
Also, I could live with 75F for a while.
I'll pull the radio out, then see if AC works at all. If it does, great; if it doesn't I'll try Wrathernaut's instructions to remove CDs and then I'll put the radio back...at least until September.
