Anyone Ever Painted Their Calipers or Rotors?

If so, what paint do you recommend? Does it last? Any suggestions for how to do it best? Any pics?

Thanks guys!
Mark

I used Duplicolor. If you paint them I would go with black, silver or another subdued color.

Taken with my phone, so not the best pic:

They have been painted for the last 60k+ miles, so it lasts awhile. One has chipped, but not too bad.

Why not blue or something, and what all do you have painted there? Just the calipers? Also, how did you get the infiniti name to still be visible? Does that take a lot of work?

It doesn't look right to me as I feel the bright colors are best for true BBK's.

The Infiniti is just a sticker kit I bough off ebay. The stickers on mine are pushing it as far as painting them goes, IMHOP. It has been on there since I painted them and has not come off. I have even sprayed wheel cleaner on them indirectly and the paint and stickers remain. If you look at your calipers Infiniti is not written on them.

The caliper's were painted with the Duplicolor kit that is applied with a brush. It is much easier to apply than the spray can kits. I originally painted the rotors to help prevent rust, but the unpainted surfaces rusts and the rust runs onto the painted part so it wasn't very effective as far as aesthetics go.

If you are interested, i believe this is the place I bought the stickers from: http://www.xenonmods.com/xenonmods_infiniti_items.htm

As far as the color; it is you car and you paint them whatever color you want, I was just giving my opinion. If you don't like it you can always paint it another color. As for the paint kit, I have heard G2 is really good and has great colors. I went with Duplicolor since it is available locally at AutoZone and O'Reilly's.

Do a search on "ugly brakes"
I asked for help and Duplicolor was recommended. I painted my Calipers black with a kit you just brush on. I sprayed the center with silver high temp caliper paint and it has held up great.

I painted mine red and they turned out OK.

OK so I'm kidding a bit. Before I bought my Wilwoods I painted mine silver with the G2 kit from ebay and was really happy with the way they turned out. As mentioned above the paint is very durable and has a nice gloss to it.

I used the duplicolor spray paint kit. had to remove the rotors and intermediate brackets, but left the calipers attached and taped everything up to avoid overspray

I second staying with subdued colors. Save the red and golds for BBK's. If anything, at least color coordinate. Ask a female and she'll tell you putting blue calipers on an silver car with no other blue accents "doesn't match" very well.

Not a big fan unless it's a bbk, but I'd go for a black or silver color

Hey what rotors are those. I am in the market for these, looking for recommendation on perforated rotors, yours look good. Would you recommend them.

Caliper paint gets the job done, cant beat powder-coating to get the job done right VHT makes pretty good paint for rotors.

I bought the premium line of rotors from here: http://www.r1concepts.com/

They work very well (no warping or cracking), but I installed them on the wrong sides. The slot nearest the outer of the edge of the rotor should face forward (leading edge). Since they are only for looks I didn't worry about turning them around. If you call them you can sometimes get better rates than are listed on their site, they also have an Ebay page with good deals.

The duplicolor kit lasted about 4 months before I had to take the paint off with acetone

G2 is a much nicer paint. I believe its an epoxy based or mixed paint Goes on much easier. Im not sure what G35844 meant by it being a pain. Its as easy as taking your wheels off, cleaning the surface, and painting.

I dont know about painting the rotors...it might look ok.

I will post pics later of my silver painted calipers
