So if you're gonna go that far to check/clean it, you might as well change the sending unit while you're in there? The fuel pump is part of that assembly, correct?

I believe you are correct about the fuel pump being a part of the whole thing. Wouldn't hurt to replace the sending unit while you're in there, but I don't know if the fuel filter is designed to be replaced. I remember reading somewhere you just cleaned the screen and re-used it.

Cool. Of course all of this could be better evaluated if there was a schraeder valve in-line with the fuel lines to check pressures. This is very similar in symptoms to a bad fuel pump.

So there isn't one on our cars? I was gonna check yesterday but never got to it. Prob have to pull the engine cover off anyway to look.

Probably why i never see guys install fuel pressure gauges on G35's...no easy way how

My cover is off. I looked the best I could and found nothing. But no one else that has torn deeper in to this engine has chimed in whether there is a way to test or not.

I have 73k on the vehicle. I had my plugs replaced last summer, also had my head cover gaskets replaced under warranty. I replaced my battery over the weekend, still having the same problem.
Also had fuel sending unit replaced under warranty during the spring.

I HIGHLY doubt that you have a crank position sensor. I have 2 extra crank sensors - I'd sell ya one cheap. I really don't think this is your issue though, since it would kick an CEL right away at first sign of a problem.

Check the cam phase sensors. Fuel Pressure should be at 50-51 psi at WOT i believe. I don't recall what idle levels are though. get the FSM (free) if you don't have one yet.

Can you test the fuel pump by turning the ignition key to the on position and back without starting it of course, 2 or 3 for a few seconds to let fuel pressue built up? I did this and it seems to start quicker from when I just get in it and start it normally.
Thinking about buying a fuel pump, saw a waldbro 255 for $89, should I purchase or just go with oem pump? Planning on doing this myself.

I've not replaced a pump in this car so not sure how hard it is to do. But if you are able to start after letting it sit and "prime" in the on position before cranking, it sounds like the pump isn't holding pressure like it should be. Are you certain the car isn't leaking fuel at all? If a line coupling has gone bad it can also drop pressure. But you'd know that if you're finding puddles under the car on the side where the fuel lines run.

I've been having this same problem as well. I always thought it was a weak battery. I'm still on the original battery.
