Wierd Sound when shoving accelerator to the floor.
I drive an 03 G35 automatic sedan. I was playing around on the highway with it in manual mode and put it in 5th gear doing about 70. I then shoved the accelerator pedal to the floor to see how it would react. The car seemed to rev up as if it came out of gear. Anyone know why this is?
could be. if I'm a little easier on the gas pedal then it will go up to the governor just fine. Its only when I jam my foot on the gas does it do it. So that's definitively possible. Anything i can do about it?
Did it come out of gear? I'm not to familiar with the auto's on these cars but most tiptronic auto tranny's will come out of the selected gear if the ratios and percentages are right for the computer to tell it too...
I guess the question is, was this a transmission downshift? Or the transmission slipping? How far did it rev up? To redline? Does the car accelerate? Or does it seem like it revs in nuetral?
I'm not sure how the 03 trans shift logic is, will it force a downshift if you floor it in 5th (overdrive)
Hows your trans fluid level?
