insurance claim on lowered G?

Has anybody did a insurance claim on your car for any damage do to it be lowered? Over the weekend I bent my front crossmember which messed up steering and some other stuff. I'm trying to claim it through my insurance. Just wanting to know if anybody has made a claim and did they cover it?

Why not raise it and then file the claim?

When you made the modifications to your car (lowering it), did you inform your insurance company and adjust your policy accordingly?

I'm honestly not sure how it works, but I would expect them to put up a fight. And I wouldn't blame them, to be honest.

Yeah your right I wouldn't blame them either. No I did not make the adjustment after lowering the car. Stock springs will be going back on before I take it in!

FYI Im pretty sure this is a form of insurance fraud. I personally wouldn't do what you are doing. You fvcked up, take responsibility. You knew what you were getting into when you lowered your car. Car damage is always a possibility. If they won't do it with the car lowered, then they shouldn't be liable.

Dont worry I'm just messing around about putting oem springs back on. I'm not that type of person. Its the price you pay when your car is lowered 3" from stock height. I'm taking it in Friday so they can look at it. But what I don't get is if I hit someone with my car my insurance would fix it even though I did it? But if I lower my car and hit a manhole cover Its my fault again but they won't fix it cause its my fault for lowering it. Damn it

That's good. You pay insurance to fix a lapse of judgement, or a act of God/faulty install of something. You don't pay them to fix your car if you purposely install something that caused damage later on.

idk why you listen to the canadian. lol. insurance companies screw people over all the time. if i were you.. and i mean its worth a shot, just take your car in and explain to them what happened. if they wont fix it cuz your car is lowered.. then there you go... you at least tried.. and no you wont be getting it fixed for free either... you pay your deductible + increase in your policy.. so regardless you will end up paying for it.. possibly even more than your local mechanic.

Put OEMs back on and take it in, insurance companys are crooks even over legit stuff. I would feel no guilt from giving them a fvcking for a change.
