Hey guys, merry x-mas.... I know some of us might been in holiday mode now, but i'd like some advice a bit of a situation i have going on. Long story short... I bought a set of H&R coupe springs of a guy online. They are hardly used and I got a deal on them. When they showed up, the box said coupe on the side with the product code being 53035. Here's the situation though guys, inside were 53050!!! which are for the 350Z. Now the reason I wanted the coupe springs is, so I could put them in not need to change my shocks and get a camber kit. Now before I send them back, can they work. I have oem 19's with 235/40's on the car right now, my couple questions are: will the tires rub with the 350z H&R's and will I have to change my shocks and buy a camber kit for the front and rear?... Any thoughts out there guys would be greatly appreciated guys!!

The Z springs will drop your car 1/2" more than the coupe springs. Not familiar with the drop on the H&R set but if it's more than an inch and you don't have the stock sport struts you would be wise to replace the struts and get F/R camber kits and toe bolts so you won't burn through tires every 10K miles.

 

Thanks for the input guys. I have read a couple things, the drop with the H&R Z springs is 1 more extra inch added to the sedan drop, which together is around 2" then & the Z shocks are shorter than the sedans. With that being said, wouldn't my sedan shocks have less travel in them with the Z springs installed. I wonder what that would do for ride quality? Quick question, how do I know if I have stock sport struts?

just buy aftermarket struts and u wont even have to worry about that haha

 

Just do it bro if anything you might have to do a slight roll on your rear fenders and you know you have a sports package sedan when the struts are red

 

You can put those on the sedan shocks and send them to me and ill send you 350z stechs with 350z shocks

 

I had 245/40 on on 9.5 rear..with+23...I was on 350z stechs...and i had to get my rears rolled.I had z shocks...just get a set of z shocks...u can get em cheap used..

 

Thanks for the advice guys, and the offer JaE35, any chance of you parting with just the 350Z shocks?.. If you had coupe h&r's I would swap in a heartbeat. To make this work it looks like I need a set of 350Z shocks. Does anybody know what the ride is like with a sedan set up like this?... The only other question is will I rub with oem 19" rays on 235/40's?... Thanks guys...

 

With that tire size, I doubt you will rub. You WILL need a camber kit for the rear, and start saving for the fronts as well as new shocks, with a 2" drop your alignment will be really out of spec.

 

I'm thinking my best option is to try and send the 350Z h&r's and pick up a set of the coupe h&r's and go with my original plan. Has anybody had an issues running coupe h&r's on oem sedan suspension with 19" rays on 235/40's. Let me know what your thinking guys, thanks.

i was just thinking how your deal on the springs opened up a can of worms for u.. if you want to do it right, take your time, save ur money , do a little more research, and you will be happier in the long run.. i mean.. springs cost what.?? 300 new tops... you said a deal.. $100-150..? i say either put em on and deal with the consequences, or send em back and start over, or sell em and start over..

changing ur suspension correctly is not cheap, but if you spend the money up front, you will save money in tires and headaches in the long run..

 

Well put... I have been thinking the same since the 350Z h&r's showed up in a coupe h&r's box. I was looking for a solution to maybe use them. The better solution seems to send 350z's back and pick up a set of coupe's.

 

highly doubt you'd rub with 235/40 tires. i have 255/35 tires on coupe 19"s dropped on sedan S techs and i dont rub
