Coupe midpipes @ advanced auto for $40.99

Check it out! Maybe someone found this already but I thought I would post it anyway. They are made by Walker which is a reputable replacement exhaust parts company. They also have the gaskets in stock at most stores.

From what I hear, this sounds terrible and nothing like the coupe midpipe.

Figures as much. I just stumbled upon it and figured it was worth mentioning.

I thought that they were, not the "rippled" version of crush bent, but crush bent. Just because it does not have the ripples does not mean it is not crush bent. Mandrel bends from the factory would be impressive although I don't think that's the case.

Hand bent over the bottom of the thigh, right above the knee. Technique passed on by elder exhaust artisians.

The OEM coupe mid-pipe diameter isn't the same throughout the pipe. Although slight, there are slight variables bend of the mid-pipe, although not as bad as muffler shop crush bends.

That's what I thought. Basically factory "top of the line" crush bends.

Jairen is right, to a degree. The outside diameter is reduced, but it is because the pipe has been "drawn" or pulled into shape. Inside diameter is reduced slightly as well. Crushed pipe compensates for the same amount of material at the inside and ouside radius' of the curve. It also creates ripples on the interior of the pipe, causes turbulence in the flow of the "fluid" (exhaust gas) and all around inferior.

Or maybe they are actually hand-bent by highly trained japanese technicians

I bought the replacement for the sedan from Walker since my sedan midpipe was broken and way too loud.

At low rpms, around 1500, it is kinda loud and almost vibrates the car a bit. It's not quiet like the original sedan midpipe and its loudness is not pleasing like the coupe midpipe.

Needless to say, I found a new pipe and it is coming off soon. If the coupe replacement is like the sedan replacement then I wouldn't go with it. I was tempted to get the coupe midpipe replacement from Walker, but I was worried it wouldn't sound good. The sedan midpipe from them doesn't sound good either so I guess I lost out.

Ah, at 45 dollars it was worth it to hold me over until I found an OEM pipe.
