Tokico D Spec or HP Series shocks??

Looking for good aftermarket shocks for regular street driving. I would probably never spend the time to adjust the D-spec shocks. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Are the D-Spec a waste of money for my application. My mechanic says its time to replace the shocks .....

I have HP on 350z springs and an happy. I am like you and would never adjust the shocks ,so I felt the added cost of d specs would have been wasteful.

Sorry to thread hijack but why not stick to OEM for regular street driving?

You're not going to adjust the height so wont OEM's be the way to go?

i just picked up some tokico HP blues yesterday because i blew my stock OEM shocks with the coupe eibach sportline springs i put in

d-specs are nice but if your now going to be adjusting them all the time then they are a waste of money

there is a vendor here that is selling the hp blues for $325 shipped!

here is a link to the vendor

How is the ride quality? Are they stiffer than the stock? I want a good comfortable ride.

Thank you, if I decide to buy these, I will definitely use that vendor. The price I was going to pay was $388

Good question .... The OEM's are probably fine and maybe even better, but I feel like I am upgrading going with a different brand. I already have Tein H tech springs to lower it a little bit and it seems like the Tokico shocks are a popular combination with forum members. Anyone else have any comments??

OEM shocks are not design for lowered cars OEM shocks ride like crap compared to the HP blue shock which are design for lowered cars gives you a smooth ride

i had OEM shocks on my car the ride was bouncy and then they blew so i had to upgrade to the tokico hp blues i installed them last night and very happy with them the bounciness went away and was a smooth ride

Yeah, I run tokico hp blues on my sedan because my oems needed to be replaced. I still use an oem non-sport spring but it is mostly because I do not want to spend any more money on such an old car. The ride is pretty firm but that does not really bother me that much unless I am on some chewed up piece of road.

I just installed a set of d-specs. In all honesty, I should have just gotten coils, but I'll rarely adjust height.

After long thought, I pulled the plug on D-specs and glad I did. I never thought I would adjust dampening, but having the adjustability is great. Soft when I want, and stiff for when needed.

Keep in mind that HP's may run a little stiff, but that is all subjective.
