Intake/Exhaust upgrade dilemmas. First world problems.

Just me, or was anyone deterred from buying the tanabe exhaust because of the muffler size? I like the way it sounds, because its not super aggressive, but man that is alot of can hanging out the back. The fujitsubo legalis sounds nice too but thats alot more than the tanabe. Any suggestions?

If you don't want a "super aggressive" sound, then you may not want to get a full system. You could pick up a coupe midpipe and pair it with an HKS or Magnaflow axle-back.

I dunno, maybe I need to see it in person. By super aggressive I mean a sound like the Megan's make, or the vq exhaust. The tanabes a bit more mellowed out.

My megan exhaust is definitely aggressive. The tanabe is quite a bit mellower. But still sounds nice!

Would you say the Megan is too loud? Or just an aggressive note?

Opinions are always floating around. There are many ways to digest views or thoughts.

For me, I just ordered the Tanabe Y-back from Amazon (great price + 5% cash back on my Chase Visa). After listening and looking at different set-ups here that was the one for me (I hope since I need to install it once received).

IMO, all the set ups had different + and - .

(flame suit!)

HKS axel-back: Great looking + great sounding, but too much $$ for a muffler
Fujitsubo Legalis: nice looking, but I didn't like the sound clip + $$$
Megan Y-back (my second choice): nice sounding, but the dual tips are too skinny and get lost on a straight view from behind. The OEM tips diameter would have been great here!
Magnaflow: (my third choice) Same as Megan.

MD was the best looking and sounding overall, IMO. I was too cheap to purchase this at the time Tony introduced it and I hate the fact that I missed out on it!

I have the '07 Z HR Y-pipe sitting in my trunk now that will be installed with the Tanabe. I will do this and my full '07 Z suspension set up that I have had for 15 months now.

I never had just the y back on without my HFC so I couldn't tell you about that. With the HFC it is definitely very loud but I like it loud so it is no problem for me. It is aggressive. I could see how some people would not be happy with my setup, so if you plan on doing megan and HFC, just know it is loud.

Maybe talk to Dreaper to see what he says about just the y back and HR y setup he has...
