HR Style Y Pipe Diameter?

So is there any real benefit power or sound wise between the DE designed pipe vs the HR designed pipe? I ask because I have some pretty nasty rasp in my exhaust but I am on a stock y pipe. The DE designed one can be had for like 50 bucks less than the HR designed pipe and I am just trying to figure out if it is worth the extra money? Obviously the power would be negligible but the sound is what I am most concerned with.
