Custom Spoiler Project ~ Picture Heavy :)
I knew from the day I saw my stock G35 rear end, that I was going to have some work to do.
The spoiler had to go, that was obvious.
I figured I'd end up getting a new trunk with the lip style on there, and I fully expect that route may be one I take still. With the decision made to eliminate the stock spoiler, I figured it'd be worth a shot trying to modify it. After all, I'll get 2/3 of F all for it anyhow.
So it begins:
Work bench
First cut:
Surprised to find it's fiberglass:
TEST FIT:

Cont.
I wasn't happy with the first cut, back downstairs:
Much better. Though, I can't go much lower without getting into a complete redesign, so I'm glad I didn't cut off more!
Note, the Right side (passenger side) is a little 'higher' still, the left side will closer depict what it'd look like.
Please ignore the 2x4 holding the spoiler in place for pics (if you can )
Let me know what you think! I"m not sure if I like it yet but it's too darn cold out to keep going at this today. Gonna let it sit in the back of my head for a bit before I decide if I want to do it, or just get a trunk lid.
I can probably move it back/forward or whatever a bit if I choose. It's too hard to get an idea without someone holding it in place so I can really check it out.

Actually not bad time wise, not a lot to it because it's FG. If it was plastic as I expected it'd be a huge pain. Popping a bottom on in FG is simple, sealing will not be a problem if I actually decide to make this work. It'll install just like the stock one, just lower.

I really like it & I hate those stock spoilers. Imo, that little difference in height changes it completely, from a gaudy afterthought looking spoiler to a sleek and clean one that fits the lines of the car more.
Nice write ups too btw. I liked what you did to your Maxima grille and I'm using that info to help build a few one-off pieces for my ride.

Kudos TunerMax - it's changes like this that make a subtle but significant difference! I like the way it turned out.
Aesthetically I think its an improvement. Performance - lets face it, the OEM design was/is much more for looks than down-force... but as opposed to the post above (two posts up by this time), I think your mod might in fact help plant the rear - not create up-force. On the other hand, with the space underneath I think a smoke chamber or significant knowledge in airflow dynamics would be necessary to know for sure. It really doesnt matter because its doubtful you will ever be at speeds on sweeping turns that would require engineered down-force anyway.
Nice mod

It was a fun lil Saturday mess around project, no harm, no foul. Anyone want's the spoiler or trunk locally let me know. I'd be willing to finish it and make it for someone also, but the price would be to high for most I think.
Is there a sedan spoiler/trunk picture thread I'm perhaps missing?
Unless I hear or see something else I'll prolly end up getting this 'lil fella:
