Dual Clutch Transmission

I have read a lot about the dual clutch transmission system and I am impressed. Would love to do a transmission swap on my 04 g35x. I think this would increase acceleration times significantly without any kind of engine upgrade as gears shift in 8 milliseconds. Anyone heard of anything like this?

I would guess it would cost as much as your car is worth. Better to sell your car and get a car that came with one.

What if I pulled the transmission from a car that already has a dual clutch transmission?

Come on guys, if money was not an option, this could happen. The benefits of such a transmission would be astounding. Now, I am not that mechanically sound, but I still think this could happen.

1. the cars computer would freak
2. there are a very large number of pieces that would have to mated together and a lot of fabrication to make the pieces work.
3. Do a valvebody upgrade for $500 and you will be pleasantly surprised

The Nissan GT-R's (R35) transmission is a dual clutch. Would that fit on a vq35? It is a rear mounted transmission.

The transmission from the GTR is literally worth the price of your car. A better easier option would be installing the 6 speed mt which has been done on a awd 350z swap. Or just sell the car and get a g37 with the 7speed.

^ If money isn't an option, then he/she should buy a GTR with the dual clutch trans already in it. Or, if he wants a 4 door, an Aston Martin Rapide, Porsche Panamera or Maserati Quattroporte. Any of which will outperform a G35 sedan with a dual clutch trans.

Having the money instead of spending it on parts/labor is always an option. Even if you stole the dual clutch and did the work yourself, time is money. I cannot conceive of a reality where money is not an option.

I find this highly illogical.

Won't fit or work.

No, not even close.

^This. Except, the GTR transmission would cost about 2x the price of his car, and even if he did get it, it wouldn't even come close to working, completely different tranny.

Just to play around here... What is wrong with your transmission that you would want to change to that tranny?

This thread has me rolling. If money were not an option, go for the SSC Ultimate Aero. Everybody needs 1200+ HP and 1100+ Ft/lbs.

Nothing particularly wrong with my transmission, but dual clutch technology is amazing and i know it would give my car a huge performance boost.
