AC blowing warm...

First day so far this year that was warm enough to warrant the use of the AC. But it's only blowing warm air .

I've only had the car (2005 G35X with 60K miles) for 5 months or so and I know the AC was working OK during the test drive.

I can't hear the compressor clicking on at all - the clutch doesn't seem to be doing anything. I assume I would see the front of the pulley start moving when the AC was switched on (not sure about that). Either way there's no engagement noises at all.

I pulled the battery cover and checked the fuses there, but none seem related to AC. I also pulled the cover under the drivers kickpanel - the only ones that looked AC related were labelled 'blower' and they both checked fine.

Any ideas what else I should be looking at?

^^ I know on most vehicles there is a pressure switch that will have to make before it allows the compressor to kick on, I think g35pillow may be onto something.

Thanks - she's booked in at my local Nissan dealership. I suspect I have a leak and the pressure is too low to allow the compressor to come on. I see some oil on the line that runs from the compressor to the front of the car (condensor). I had the AC belt shred on me a month or so ago and the remnants of the belt was flapping around madly - it may have damaged or cracked that pipe.

Either way, I'll know soon .

Yeah if there is compressor oil on any of the pipes its safe to say it has all leaked out by now. Hopefully the dealership doesn't bend you over too badly, but who knows now with environmental fees and such.

Also I forgot to mention the compressor oil is actually designed to attract moisture so if the system has been bled out there is a chance that there is now moisture in the system somewhere, normally they recommend changing the filter/dryer (different wording depending on who you talk to) as well as changing the compressor oil as well to remove all contaminants. Hope this helps.

Check behind the battery. There many fuses there. I just checked mine yesterday and do believe seeing something related to AC .............
You need to remove the buttom window trim to get to the box. The box has a black cover that you need to pull up. (assuming that it's the same on your car as my 2003 version.)

Just to put this thread to rest;

Finally got it fixed - took a while as the Nissan dealership ordered the wrong part. Twas as I suspected - when the A/C belt shredded it took out the pipe below the compressor - freon leaked out until the pressure dropped.

$550 later and I have A/C again.

Check your belts
