Just for fun, How often do you drive in reg vs sport mode? Why?

I only drive in sport mode when traffic is slow. So I can stay in the same gear and not have to use the brakes so much. I have driven a standard for 16 years straight and driving a car without a clutch pedal is not even close to the same. I don't really like the sport mode at all.

I use sport mode all the time because my car doesn't shift until 4k in 3rd gear sometimes. My fault I haven't had the tuner make the final adjustments.

I don't drive in sport mode unless i'm trying to pass someone or getting onto the interstate.. I think sport mode burns more gas, but that's my thought

i just stick with reg, so i don't end up having to worry about the tranny incase it messes up during sport mode.

I used to drive in reg AT for the first year or so I had the car, but the last 3-4 years I only drive in MM. Its just a solenoid or switch that tells the computer to shift... as long as you dont hold the revs too long or act like a general idiot with it, it shouldnt cause any problems.

I'm pretty sure the G has a 'memory' technology that kind of keeps track of how you're driving in Manual mode, as such, if you find you want the Auto to shift harder, faster, hold in gears longer, etc, all you need to do is drive as such in Manual mode for a bit, and it will remember that. Then when in Auto mode you will notice it doing some of hte same things, holding gears longer, etc.

I could be incorrect about this, as I've got a 6MT, but this is what I've heard, most manufacturers used this technology in 2003+

Correct, everytime i reset my ecu i put it in MM mode and drive like a bat out of hell to train the transmission in MM auto mode to get the gears longer in D. I can't stand how short the gears are regular

i commute 15 miles one way. Out of that 9 miles is in city. I use steptronic or MM at that time. There is a winding way which is plenty of fun as it has almost no traffic most days and its fun to drive the curves at 40mph. On freeways i keep auto all the time.

Manual mode all the way unless I am on the highway then it goes into Drive, as Drive locks up the Torque converter better.
