Im about to get some tires for my M45 sport rims that I have for my 03 g35 sedan. My problem before was that the rim without a spacer seemed to rub a bit up front on the upper control arm, I had 225/40/19 on the front tires, and those were so stretched that the ride felt awfull. At the time I was lowered on some skunk 2 springs, but now I have stance coilovers installed. I was wondering if it would be safe to put a 245/40/19 tire up front, or will it cause even more rubbing. I was thinking of putting 5mm spacers all around to make sure that this wouldnt happen. Can someone give me their input before I place an order for new tires.

It's the knuckles your fronts are rubbing, not upper control arms. You'll need at least 10mm spacers on the front to clear 245/40/19 tires.

 

Thanks! If I go with 235/35/19 tires in the front and 255/40/19 in the back, then will I be fine with just 5mm spacers?

 

235/35/19 might clear, but the tire wall is shorter than 225/40/19 so that doesn't help on your ride quality. And the difference between 235/35/19 and 255/40/19 is more than 5% so you will have VDC and ABS issues.
