Need an answer!.
Well after 4 years of owning my car I finally decided to begin modifying it and I'm starting with the interior at the moment while I wait for the parts I order to come for my suspension and the brakes. I'm planning on installing a dd with nav already on it, which makes my oem nav useless but I still plan on using my nav screen to see the fuel consumption and the rest of the warning systems. Because if it's not I'm just going to end up removing the nav system DVD rom and just install the pocket piece in. I was searching online for a while which brought me to this forum site that I didn't even know existed to be honest. Wish I did. Could have saved me a lot of time and answered a lot of questions instead of learning and dealing with them alone and the hard way. Anyway, i was searching on the forum for a while with no results or answers. So if there is already a thread on this can someone point me in the right direction or if not, could give me an answer.
By the way, it's nice to see a whole community of enthusiasts for the g35.

I am not sure there is a question that it completely clear there.
I have the Nav installed on mine. I have been in some discussions about putting a double din in mine. I believe the extra monitoring that you like are in fact tied into our Bose stereo system, as is the Bluetooth. I think you will lose all of the monitoring and fuel avg. and timers for service (oil) if you remove the Bose system . I would love for someone to correct me to the negative of this. This is about the biggest reason I want to keep my OEM stereo with Nav.

What I'm asking is if the car's warning systems and the fuel consumption info that shows on the oem nav screen comes through the car directly to the monitor or if it comes through the nav cd-rom? Or if it comes through the oem radio headunit as DKatman stated above?
Taking DKatman post into account of it being a part of the radio, I disassembled my whole radio head unit and I don't think it is. I could be wrong but I don't think it is.
