Do I need to change my transmission fluid again?

I have a 2005 g35x with 100k miles. I got it with 96k and flushed the transmission fluid about 8 months ago. My mechanic said it was dirty but had no metal shavings and wasn't too bad however, the transition had been really rough into reverse. This slowly started getting better after I had the fluid flushed and it's pretty good now but it still makes noise when it's cold. I try to back into my spot at work and school so when I leave and the transmission's cold it won't clunk. My question is should I do a drain and fill? Is the clunking I'm experiencing normal? I drove a Toyota with 190k the other day and it was smoother than my car.

What kind of fluid did you use in your transmission?

Infiniti makes sporty cars. If you are referrring to shift quality, it will be firmer than Toyota. If you are talking about the clunch from D - R, then you should try changing the fluid again. It is supposed to be drained/filled every 30k. I'd say another at won't hurt if things got better the last time.

The fluid is cheap. Takes all of 30 mins to drain/fill.

It's the shift from D to R, P to R and a little noise into drive. I just don't know if changing the fluid will make any difference since I had it flushed just a couple thousands of miles ago. Is anyone else experiencing this?

I have 140k on my car, my daughters Camry has 240k. The engine in the Camry is quieter and the trans shifts smoother than mine. Most likely this is because I am hard on my cars and the Camry was my parents and they both drive like old ladies (one is).

It takes about three tranny drain and fills to get all the old fluid out. Do it two more times with your oil changes. Then it will be nice and fresh. A lot of people are changing to S matic tranny fluid. You could try that too.

I take it you didn't read the previous posts or the entire first one for that matter. I had the transmission FLUSHED and I'm debating whether or not to do one drain/fill.

When you FLUSH older trannys sometimes you loosen up dirt, which can cause more problems then it solves. You should only drain and fill. It is much safer. Did you change the filter screen? It could be clogged. Take off the pan, there are some magnets in there. It doesn't hurt to clean them up too.

After I flushed it things started getting better so if I was going to drop it that would've already happened. The dealer flushed it so I have no idea if they changed the filter. It's still better than it was before the transmission was flushed but it's still not like it should be.

I did a drain and fill, trans is much smoother. So try a drain and fill. Let us know if it gets rid of the clunk. IMHO, I wouldn't have never flushed it. Drain and fill is the way to go.

Too late now...

But what I was wondering is do you think the fluid is dirty again even after having it flushed just a few thousands of miles ago?

that CLUNK, could be that axle click issue some of us have. There are DIY and videos of it.

Yes another drain and fill doesn't hurt. Its $50 or so of fluid VS $800 for a trans. (cheapest i've found was $800 so far)

From what I know this is the famous axle click
but that's not what it is. If I keep my foot fully depressed on the brake the shift is just rough but quick. I'm pretty sure it's not the axle click, just the transmission shifts rough for some reason. It drives perfectly fine and no issues at all. It's not the $50 I'm worried about it's just that I don't know if the fluid will be dirty.

I know on some hondas they have solenoids on the outside of the trans. Does the G have something similar?
