Megan Mid-Pipe + HKS Muffler

Does anyone know if the Megan mid-pipe will work fine with the HKS muffler??

Should all mid-pipes be the same?

This is for an 04 G35x with 03 style hangers (two near the tips that go left and right)

Thanks,
-Carlos

The pipe diameters will be different. The Megan should be a 3" where HKS I believe is 2.5".

They should bolt together but again the diameter of the pipe will be slightly different. And the HKS will bolt right into an 04 without having to buy a hanger.

Do you know which performance mid pipe(s) would work?

Usually people just do a coupe midpipe with the HKS exhaust. Otherwise you could get a full exhaust that would come with a midpipe and muffler.

Mismatched exhaust components are a recipe for some nasty rasp. A coupe mid pipe or z MP with extension is the best way to go, but be prepared for some drone. I had that combination and eventually sold the HKS muffler because the drone finally got to me. Bought myself the Motordyne VQ exhaust and couldn't be happier.

Haha you think the HKS and coupe midpipe droned lol. You should have heard my car with Megan Y back, and y pipe, and Kinetix HFC. That was dumb. I since have ripped the HFC's out and it's 1000x better, but still loud! I would love motordyne but can't afford it on my college budget

I hear ya, but unless you could find a used VQ you're SOL. Tony only made a limited run of them and then stopped production. I got a wild hair last year and decided I wanted one and searched for a few months for a used one to no avail. So as a last chance I called Tony and lo and behold he had the prototype system lying around so I bought it. I'd be embarrassed to tell you how little I paid but I can tell you it was less than $400 shipped.

Yeah I know they don't make them anymore. I know they were talking about possibly making another run of them if they pre sold enough. They were going to be like 777 shipped or something.

You sir, got an absolute steal on that exhaust

Yep, for the original price of the exhaust I got the exhaust and a resonated XYZ, It always pays off to check all of your options when searching for something, even if you think an option is impossible. Ask Janik how my exhaust sounds, he actually got to drive my baby when we were in Cali last year.

What does (did) the Motordyne VQ system include? Man I wish they were still making those! I'm looking into the Stillen kit but it's so pricey! Just want a bit more aggressive sound at WOT and not too much of an increase in normal driving conditions.
