06 5at sedan 1/8 mile

My car is bone stock except for an ebay intake and an ebay muffler. This was my best pass of the night. I ran 9.1's constantly and got in quite a few 2.0 60fts.

The D.A. was about 800 the night I made the 9.1 pass. I made a 9.0 pass a few weeks later with a D.A. of about 700. I dont know if my car is just a freak or what but I pit the stock intake back on and it runs better. I am launching at about 1800 rpm's and that is working best for me.

Dang, must be something wrong with mine probably. Are you on stock wheels? I'm on the coupe 18"s. One last question if I may, what psi do you run your tires?

With 9.1 times I could go rub it in my neighbor's face. He's always gloating that his Mustang GT runs 9.5s 1/8th mile and keep challenging me to go to the track.

Unless your neighbor has a 94 or 95 GT that is bone stock with dry rotted tires, he needs to learn how to drive. Mustangs with just a gear and tires are in the low 8s stock for the 1/8th. If you want to beat Mustangs at drag racing, you have the wrong car.

Not sure what the year is, but it is a new edge body. I have no desire to beat him on the track. The comment was poking at him and his time.

If he drives on the track anything like he leaves his driveway, he's just smoking the tires through 1st and 2nd. That idiot doesn't leave his driveway unless it is sideways bouncing off the rev limiter.

I need to have a chat with him. There are tons of kids in the neighborhood.

Talking

I have the 17's that may be helping me a little bit. I am running 42psi in the front and about 32psi in the front. I did a muffler and resonator delete with a pipe and a straight through muffler and it knocked the weight down a lot. It only weighs 3570 with me in it. And I have beaten multiple 05-09 gt's at the track I race at. They are running like 9.2's or 9.3's mostly.

Probably spinning. The G35 is not a drag car. With tires, the Mustangs should be in the 8s stock engine. The 11 Mustang is in the 10s with just bolt ons. 10s in the 1/4 mile.

On 1/8 mile race, the start is very important, reaction time + traction. So is often a driver race. With practice the g35 (i agreed its not a drag car) can compete and doing good against v8 car on street tire.
At the beginning of the year the temperature was cold outside and the track a little slippery, a 2012 mustang gt with bolton and sct tuned 450hp race against me. I was sure i will be far behind. Surprise he coulndt get traction and he does a 14,2@112mph. with my g35x traction wasnt an issue and i done a 14.1@98mph on that run.
I know he s car faster then mine and he normally does 11s in ideal condition but it was so fun to see his face after the race.
Im often at the track and saw a lot of muscle car on street tire doing near 9s on 1/8mile. So with a good reaction time its not impossible to win with our small v6. On 1/4 mile it was harder.. Have fun and always race on a track.

Oh yeah, I know it's possible for these Gs to beat a very stock Mustang. I own both, haha. And I look at the performance aftermarket for both. Crazy price difference between the too... haha. If I could fabricate, I know one guy who has a Fox body like mine who made 500hp off of a $100 turbo from a 10 or 12L cummins. The rear axle can support that on street tires (not slicks), and what's left is a little strengthening of the body and more fuel. With a 351, it could be making even more power with the same turbo. Crazy cheap for that power.
14.1 is pretty impressive though for what the G35x runs stock I think. Isn't it like 14.8 or so stock? What all is done to your car?

As Arkansasg35x said: Start with a Motordyne plenum spacer and high flow cats.
After add an Osiris tune.
If its not enough and you have lot of money to put on your car, go fi (turbo or supercharger).

Maybe you need to learn your car more first cause your car is already as fast as a Tls.
Copy from another post i hope it will work

I have a 2005 g35x with MD 5/16 spacer, Berk HFC, Osiris standard tune and a ztube for the sound. Before these mods my 1/4 mile best was at 14.6 and now at 14.0.

I hope your always race on a track.
You dont have to win to have fun look at my video against faster cars.

Yeah Im trying to get a plenum spacer, exhaust I can rig up pretty cheap and light but itd be too noisy. Yessir track only and tonight I went back up there, reset the ecu and was running 9.5s so I'm going to try getting my stock 17"s back from my friend and see if they make a difference in times too

I was trying to answer fast on post #13 for my list of mods, i copied a previous post from another thread, not shure if it was understandable enough, Not sure of my english too.

14.1s 1/4 mile i was not stock. My best time stock (first time at the track and in auto mode) was 14,6. I dont stay stock enough long to do better time stock.

Now with mods my best is 14,0x i do it 4 times with my spare and a few thing on the trunk. Im sure i can get in 13,9x at the end of the season with good da.
