is this 2003 G35 a good deal?

http://raleigh.craigslist.org/cto/3012622318.html

It is G35 premium edition with 117K miles asking for 8k. He has done 100k maintenance so there's not too much for me to do. Is this a good deal for an infiniti g35 and if not what price can i try to get it at? I will try it out tomorrow and check the interior... Thanks!

This acura is my alternative i am considering to buy:

Not a bad deal, you could probably bargain the seller down a little lower. I would definitely bring it to a mechanic for a thorough inspection. It looks lowered as well - I would make sure the shocks are in good shape and that the alignment is good.

I priced the car using edmunds.com's TMV. It came in at $8700...so $8k asking seems like a fair deal so long as it is in good mechanical and cosmetic condition. There is still a lot of life left in that car if it has been taken care of. Of course, it doesn't hurt to offer less but know that you aren't overpaying if the seller doesn't budge.

The Acura isn't a bad car and it too, will go for many miles. I do know for a fact that these cars had A LOT of problems with their transmissions when new but it is possible that the problems were remedied. Just know that the Acura is FWD while the G is RWD. Most of us if not all will favor the G because it is RWD.

Definitely run a Carfax on each! Good luck!

If you want a TL get the newer 04+ style. They have less automatic transmission issues then the older ones that WILL blow up.

The G, well thats about average miles for an average condition car.

In the end you can tell a LOT by how the car looks and how the exterior and interior was kept. Look at most members here, We all love our cars and most of us have VERY VERY clean looking cars inside and out.

I would personally get the G just because i recently just bought mine not too long ago and i love it! Also for the Acura seems a little outdated just my personal opinion, plus this G looks pretty slick.

My father had a 2003 Acura TL-S in pearl white, and I got my 2004 G35 in charcoal gray...

It's either/or, man... I agree with Kingd, the Acura looks a little dated, and the G35 has held it's stylings quite well... however, the TL-S had a better rating as a car, it was supposed to accelerate slightly quicker than the G35... I've driven both quite a bit and it's really a personal preference...

I will say, however, my dad had his acura in the shop a few times for various things... nothing major, I don't think, but I've never had an issue I couldn't fix myself with my G, and I've got 139K miles on it, ATX with no slip, original everything except stereo and thermostat.. of course, mine's an '04... I bought mine in 2008 with 58K miles on it and the dealer was selling it for $8000, and in Arizona where there's a better resell value because of the lack of rusting and mostly highway miles... they had a 2003 sea green for $9K with 64K miles, so here 4 years later, and private sellers, both of those prices seem maybe $2K too high to me.

Not to mention the guys here on g35driver have been a wealth of information about the car and have really made ownership a worthwhile experience... I think that alone sells the car (I came from a ZX2 and had similar experience in the teamzx2 forums, as well). I can't attest to any TL forums, but I will praise the members of g35driver until I'm blue in the face.
